Indigo Park Canada Inc. is proud to announce a significant step forward in our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. As part of our ongoing efforts to combat climate change and reduce our carbon footprint, we are setting an ambitious Scope Three target to achieve net zero emissions for all business travel by 2050. The reference year for our stepped reduction leading to Net Zero in 2050, is 2019 the last full year before the COVID-19 global pandemic.
Our Interim Targets are:
- By 2035 to have reduced our Business Travel emissions by 50% compared with 2019.
- By 2045 to have reduced our Business Travel emissions by 75% compared with 2019.
Business travel is an integral part of our operations, enabling us to connect with clients, partners, and colleagues across Canada. However, we recognize the environmental impact associated with travel, particularly the carbon emissions generated by flights, car rentals, and hotel stays. Therefore, Indigo Park is dedicated to implementing a comprehensive plan to mitigate these impacts and contribute to a sustainable future.
Our Commitment:
Measuring and Reporting: We will implement robust tracking systems to accurately measure the carbon footprint of our business travel. This data will be transparently reported in our annual sustainability reports.
Reduction Strategies:
- Virtual Meetings: Indigo Park will prioritize virtual meetings and conferences whenever possible to reduce the need for travel.
- Sustainable Travel Options: Indigo Park will encourage the use of sustainable travel options such as train travel and electric or hybrid vehicles for shorter trips.
- Efficient Itineraries: Indigo Park will optimize travel itineraries to minimize the number of trips
and maximize the efficiency of necessary travel. - Carbon Offsetting: For the emissions that cannot be eliminated, Indigo Park will invest in highquality carbon offset projects. These projects will focus on reforestation, renewable energy, and other initiatives that effectively counterbalance the carbon footprint of our business travel.
- Employee Engagement: Indigo Park will educate and engage our employees on sustainable travel practices. Training sessions and resources will be provided to help our teams make environmentally conscious decisions when planning and undertaking business travel.
- Partnerships and Innovation: Indigo Park will collaborate with travel service providers and industry partners to support the development and adoption of greener travel technologies and practices.
- Monitoring and Accountability: Indigo Park will continuously monitor our progress towards net zero business travel emissions and adjust our strategies as needed. Our commitment to transparency means we will regularly update our stakeholders on our advancements and challenges in achieving this goal.
