THE 2024 EDITION IN BRIEF

The first edition of the INDIGO Urban Mobility Observatory, conducted with OpinionWay, explored French people’s urban travel habits, analyzing the role of the car, as well as travel and parking constraints.

Here are the main findings:

  • The city is an essential part of everyday life. Some 89% of French people go there at least once a week,
  • The car remains an indispensable means of urban transport. Nearly 1 in 2 French people use their car or two-wheeler exclusively to get around the city or town,
  • Car travel and parking in the city are perceived as complex. 84% of French people think it’s difficult to park in the city today, especially on the street,
  • Underground parking is more popular with electric car owners,
  • The French know that cities have to change. 2/3 are in favor of modernizing parking facilities.
