The reform to decentralise (or penalise) paid on-street parking in France was approved when the MAPTAM Act (Modernisation of Public Territorial Action and Affirmation of Metropolises) was passed, and entered into force on 1 January 2018. It is a chance for local authorities to improve the organisation of on-street parking and to delegate all or part of the parking management process to a third party.
