Enforcing urban regulations

New restrictions on car access to the city require expert management of access and flow control on the road. INDIGO offers these skills to local authorities.

Quality of life is at the heart of today’s urban issues. They are implementing active policies to relieve congestion in city centers and improve air quality.

With this in mind, 13 European countries have already made it compulsory to set up Low Emission Zones (LEZ) and Limited Traffic Zones (LTZ) in their main conurbations. LEZ zones restrict access to the most polluting vehicles in order to improve air quality. LTZ zones regulate access to inner-city areas according to criteria defined by mayors.

Expertise in park-and-ride management, curbside enforcement, mastery of technologies… INDIGO is a partner of choice for cities in the management of these new restricted zones.

In Madrid, INDIGO is supporting the city in the management of regulated parking. The approach integrates automated license plate reading, real-time access to operational and financial data, and dynamic pricing based on environmental criteria. To find out more

Infringement enforcement

We enforce infringements by means of a recording system: cameras are installed on our ANPR (Automated Number Plate Recognition) vehicles or at strategic locations. Infringements are then qualified by our agents, in our image review center, with a view to issuing a fine – subject to the legal framework in force.

Research and analysis

INDIGO uses technological analysis tools (mapping, cross-referencing, etc.) to study the impact of implementing regulations.

Managing access restrictions requires specific skills and adapted resources. INDIGO mobilizes its expertise and resources to support cities in their transformation and meet new urban challenges.
